Doom 3 and Half-life similarities.(Spoilers)

Earth invasion = Mars invasion

Lambda = Delta - Both working on teleportation

Aliens = Demons

Mute torso (Gordon) without reflection = Nameless mute torso with reflection

Xen = Hell

Health charger/HEV charger = Doom 3 health charger

G-man = Evil scientist guy (Dr. whatsitsname)

Barney = Sarge. Kelly (ignore this one)

Alien growth appears in base = Alien growth appears in base

Aliens teleport in at will = Aliens teleport in at will

Travel to alien world to stop the big bad guy = Travel to alien world to stop the big bad guy

Science Team = Science Team

Conspiracy about the teleportation from before the accident = Conspiracy about the teleportation from before the accident

Zombies = Zombies

etc.

no but really, which came first, Doom or HL1. who's really copying who here. Id simply improved on they're original game from way back. Valve are using id's technology and came after.

Really? I distinctly remember someone saying that the train ride with the voice was too similar to HL. Either way, it is similar.

Doom 3 took a lot of ques from Half Life, which is by no means a bad thing, since HL worked great. And HL took some ques from Doom (that whole first person shooter thingy).

yeah i began to see this game as a HL rip from the beginning you first get your equipment and crap then the test goes on for the teleportation and bam new dimention is opened to hell (like the dimention to xen). seems like a total rip the only thing that was different was the ancient connection between earth and mars i found that interensting other wise this games story line seems half life ish, but then again half life set a standard and alot of games will be looked at as rips.

What? Where in this thread do you make any reference to "presentation?" From here it looks like you basically just list a bunch of elements that are similiar in both games.

It's not till roughly half way through the game. So once you get there, you know you're roughly 1/2 way through

The level is called monorail (on a rail anyone?).

Yes the presentation of DOM 3 is remarcably simular to HL espetialy with the health station.
But then again now we know what all the gaming mags where talking about when they said HL change gaming forever if a good oll jugenaunt like doom is simular to a new comer like HL.
