So I just made it out of the Vault. I got
S 1
P 4
E 6
C 8
I 8
A 8
L 5

Big guns 32
Small guns 36
Speech 36

At level 2 I made speech 45, small guns 41, medicine 35
and took swift learner perk.

I can still go back and change everything as it only takes 5 min.

Any good, should I change.

I've never played the previous Fallouts with a Strength of 1, but is seems pretty radical.

I've just started playing this game over the weekend and am just amazed at how much fun I'm having.

I've gone the "goody two shoes" route. I'm currently doing the task for the Wasteland Survival Guide. It's actually quite fun, and is helping me gain some decent amounts of money and items. I don't call this much of a spoiler, but I'll tag it anyway.

The part where you have to go to "Minefield" to get a land mine and bring it back to the lady and the sniper just starts trying to peg you. It was just the most exciting thing to try and dodge snipers shots while evading land mines. I had such a large amount of adrenaline pumping....

Although, I did the mistake of going right towards the bridges after the Vault...damn guy with a flame thrower.

Cyber you need to level up on your spoiler tag skills. :D

Fallout 3's SPECIAL is a hideously deformed bastard child of SPECIAL.

Sidenote: outfitting Lyons' Pride with T-51bs is awesome.

Good thing I just leveled up. I got the "Learn to post, newb" perk, which gave me 5 more points to "Spoiler Tag".

Whew.

No point having Heavy Weapons if your strength is going to be so low tbh, because you've screwed you're carrying capacity big time. The big guns are damn heavy and given the choice your better off being able to carry a range of weapons rather than a couple. Personally I'd go Lockpick instead of big guns as there are plenty of opportunities to use it throughout the wasteland.

Unlike Mikael I'd say swift learner isn't a bad perk to have (though I wouldn't double up on it or anything), though Gun Nut isn't a bad choice given repair is a desirable skill to build up, and you'll be using small guns most of the time.

Also make sure you hang onto the Vault-tec utility suit as if worn it gives you an excellent +5 boost to your repair and lockpicking (just swap in and out when you need to carry out a task). There are a few good uniforms/costumes & hats to be found there out in the wastes it has to be said.

The worst bit was that for a long time I didn't know there was a sniper, and was wondering what the fark exactly was going on. Then I'd wander near a car, and it would explode.

lol me too... I never knew there was a sniper until after when my character was describing the minefield to the woman who gives you the quest. That does explain the car next to me exploding and almost killing me though.

I actually thought the exploding cars were scripted or traps and was looking out for wires and stuff.

What are Hl2.net's pro's and cons?
Pros:
  • Took me a long time to finish the game(50 hours, took my sweet time)
  • It's better than Oblivion without the retarded scaled loot and levelling enemies.
  • Some weapons are pretty nice.

Cons:
  • Quests feel fairly uninspired.
  • A lot of bugs, especially script-wise with missions breaking left and right and dialogue options being available that shouldn't be.
  • Endings are very uninspiring
  • Main story isn't as interesting as Fallout 1 or 2s and feels fairly cliched, and not in a good way.
  • Many canon decisions that makes no sense considering the previous main Fallout games.
  • Characters that feel very bland, poor animations, poor voiceacting(much is done by same voiceactors from Oblivion)
  • Again, endings suck ass.

Despite the many cons over pros, I'd still give the game at least an 8.0/10

Fallout 3's SPECIAL is a hideously deformed bastard child of SPECIAL.

Yes it is. I liked Van Buren's SPECIAL more.. Also it still pisses me off how clothes can give you bonuses to your science skills etc, charisma I could perhaps somewhat understand, but intelligence and science, repair? **** that.

are there any other vaults to find in FO3 other then 101?

You're welcome, all in all, if you want a fun game that will keep you entertained, I suggest you do buy Fallout 3, and you will enjoy it even more if you haven't played the previous Fallout games.

You playing a warez version? I haven't had a broken mission yet and I've clocked up a good 20 + hours now.

It's possibly a hardware issue, I had very few script issues and usually reloading fixed them.

I sort of understand their approach here, clothes' bonuses are intented to negate the "I have 39 medicine but can't heal that guy because it requires 40? WTF dudes?" issue. Of course, previous Fallouts never had any of these issues, and you could attempt everything regardless of your skill level.

Of course, the lower it was, the higher the chance to severely **** up was. This will need to be removed in a mod, along with all the "You need 40 <insert-skill-name> to <insert-activity>" console 'tard handholding.

Second, the lockpicking and hacking - it really felt like Deus Ex with four levels of locks you need appropriate skill levels to pick.

Regardles, it's been a fun ride, and Colonel Augustus Autumn is simply badass. Paladin Cross is too, when wearing APA Mk II.

That said, I aboslutely loathe Lamplight. I wear an advanced Tesla powered infantry combat armour with a plasma rifle in my hand and THOSE ****ING KIDS ARE CONDESCENDING TO ME.

****, I want to slaughter them. Every single last one of those ****ing brats will die in a hail of bullets once their status is unlocked, especially the ****ing Princess. I'll dropkick her head around the caverns afterwards, just for fun.

Hmmm. I thought the 'you need skill level here to activity' was a good way to put a lockdown on the mini-game based activities, i.e. hacking and lockpicking, which are ridiculously ridiculously easy.

It's stupid handholding. They shouldn't be locked, they should be increasingly hard and make you value your bobby pins.

That is true, but I don't really see how you could make lockpicking any harder. Perhaps making the 'correct' window a little smaller or something. Making it easier to break your pins.

Yeah. Or unpause the world around you, so that you get that Thiefy "**** **** **** FASTER" vibe.

Oh yeah. Another problem with the Oblivion system: everybody freezing when you talk to somebody.

It's uncanny as hell when the fire stops flickering, or if somebody freezes mid-action.

I hear that, I kinda like the kid with ADHD though, Zippy or whatever, he's awesome. I'd probably spare him.

Once big mods start coming out I'll probably buy the PC version too.

Also, I agree about the "You need lockpick skill above blabla" is annoying, I myself am waiting for the first patch to fix the many bugs in the game before I start a second character(which will be pure evil, MOAHAHAHA).

Probably gonna cheat using that one since I've already finished the game, and by cheat I mean use the guides to get all the books and all the bobbleheads to maximize mah stats.

Hahahaha, I was running around the Wasteland yesterday on my way to Arefu, when I notice a travelling trader fighting off 2 bandits. After watching from a safe distance for a while, the bandits got wind of me and started a fight. After taking them out and looting the spoils of victory, I do some business with the trader.

All is good, until after I had done my selling and vending the trader goes APESHIT and starts attacking me out of the blue. I regretted blowing his limbs clean off with a frag, and I hate getting the bad karma for it, but it was just so random and funny. Silly bugs like this can get frustrating right enough, but jesus it's good fun.

Tell me about it, towards the end of my game I travelled past Arefu, I noticed the entire population attacked me, after I had helped them with their quests etc, and then an Enclave patrol joined the fun and attacked me and the villagers.. I have no idea why the villagers were hostile to me..

The only problem I've had so far is when a Brotherhood douche walked in front of me while I was using the combat shotgun in VATS. I blew his head clean off. Then his mini-gun weilding pals turned on me.

The douche.

Heh at the minefield I ducked into a house to avoid the crazy old sniper and to check out if there was some explanation as to what he was up to in a book or some such (I was hoping there was a means to talk him down and maybe unlock another mission). Didn't really think too much about it, and started mooching around gun holstered and the crazy old coot came through the door sniper rifle blazing and scared the shit out of me...after the reload and a change of pants he met the business end of the combat shotgun (or the 'meat grinder' as I like to call it). Tenacious AI, there to spook you out when you least expect it.

:dozey:

Yeah, it turns out that if you blast the vampires when searching for Ian West, there's a bug that makes Arefu hostile to you, because it assumes that the outcome of the quest is that you made nice with the vampires, instead of calling them a cult, wasting them, and taking their nice equipment.

Well, I never attacked the youknowwhat, I was 100% good ingame, I had Very Good karma and only made good decisions in every quest, including that one.. So they shouldn't have attacked me.

Yeah, I hope Bethesda actually does a good job of patching the game so that the game doesn't have to rely on fans to make a huge amount of fixes in unofficial patches ala Oblivion..

In retrospect, I feel kind of guilty for killing them.

Bethesda sure ain't Blizzard...

Been relying on hotfixes and user-made patches, because some of the problems I've had were really crippling (constant crashing whenever I went to the Wastelands, etc.)

Which ****s me even harder since I bought the 360 version because my PC isn't good enough to run it on decent settings.

There are already user-made patches for Fallout 3? I can't play for more than 30 mins without randomly crashing, and I've tried most of the supposed fixes.

I got that too.

It really confused me when I saved the guy and killed all the vampire people who kept attacking the town, only to have the town start to hate me. Would have been nice to finish the quest but oh well. That towns pretty quiet now :p

I suppose you can always pretend that the town is afraid of you because they think you expect payment or some shit. Not a great substitute for an actual fix, but what can you do?
