Just one:

March 3, 2010 - A single image appeared today on the Eidos forums teasing the next installment of Deus Ex. The image (shown below) displays a close-up of a hand holding a lighter.

The forum moderator who posted the image didn't give many details but did say "...people who like to go into details will shortly have some new material to dissect."

We do know that next week at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco the Eidos Montreal Art Director Jonathan Jacques-Belletete will head up a lecture on "The Successes and Failures of Creating A Near-Future Cyberpunk Setting with a Renaissance Twist in Deus Ex 3." We're expecting to hear a lot more information about the game at that time and we promise to keep you updated.

Portal 2 and Deus Ex 3 at GDC? Maybe even ep3? Sounds heavenly.

That depends on who is developing it and whether they are capable of learning.

That would be Eidos Montreal and they're all nubs.

I like how a teaser for Deus Ex 3 is [picture of a lighter] and a teaser from Valve is this gigantic, convoluted, interactive mind****.

This would break my excitement meter if I wasn't convinced DX3 is going to be a failboat of disappointment.

yeah no doubt and their they're going to try to bribe Magazines,it's published by eidos right?

That was a real kick in the groin.

Hey, I have nothing against newcomers trying to tap into the ol' Deus Ex magic. But what what they've said of it so far has not been very reassuring, what with the removal of shadow/stealth mechanics and the introduction of regenerating health. The project lead himself, having said that the original DX didn't have enough memorable moments, has a view of the series decidedly different from mine. Don't have a lot of confidence.

If they unveil something true to the first game's spirit, I will be overjoyed. But right now I'm not going to get optimistic about it.

Everything you just said makes me now agree with your point of view. **** Eidos montreal.

This basically. I'm optimistic that it won't be as shitty as DX2, but that isn't saying much. I'm certainly not excited for it. I had a slight pang of excitement when I saw that announcement teaser, but then I heard about regenerating health and complete removal of stealth mechanics and it was gone. 80% chance of it just being another dumbed down fps/rpg hybrid like Bioshock was. Which sucks because that means all they need to do is market the **** out of it with advertisements and it will be considered an excellent game. Who knows if they'll do that though.

It still has stealth gameplay. It's just based on line of sight.

No moar creepin' thru the shadows. :(

That's not stealth. That's abusing low-tech AI.

Which is even worse. :(

When even call of duty has better stealth, I think its fair to say that they completely removed it from DX3

Too bad Eidos is a **** and didn't sell the rights back to Warren when he offered to buy them...

I'd guess DX3 will have some WoW style talent system, which they call something like augment5000-tron, of course you got to have cover mechanism just because it's $$$. Everyone in every city will have like two lines, being "go away, I'm busy" and "hello there". Also needs to have a shitty multiplayer, something you have like 3 guys playing when the game ships. There will be no inventory, since most of the gamers now are f retarded so putting more than two boxes to an UI will make them explode from information overflow. Oh and let's not forget physics puzzles, got to have these. Of course they're really not puzzles, cause they're not hard, they're there mostly to just give the retarded player some feel of accomplishment "hay i put da box in da box i solvz pusslz". And last but not least, you got to have the badass last boss as some "hay ma augments went wroang so ima mutant augment now". **** you Eidos!

Putting this to a safe, so I can read this again and cry when the game ships.

OMG IT'S BABY DENTON HOLDING A LIGHTER

OMG, what a teaser! What could the four circles mean? Look at the flame, if you invert it and flip it, there's an image of Denton's brother! Holy shit, don't get me started on the glove!

I was gonna say they'll **** this up - but Ion Storm did that already.

Crappy teaser at any rate.

This is one of those games that has such an incredibly high standard that nothing branded with the name will ever be able to satisfy everyone. Seems to happen a lot anymore...

Just get it done and gimme Thi4f because that will clearly be a return to the greatness and glory of the original games unlike DE3 which will be a steaming pile of failshit.

That would be Eidos Montreal and they're all nubs.

Considering they recently made Hitman: Blood Money, I'd say they could potentially do something awesome with DE3. They're pretty good at the whole open world make decisions that effect gameplay thing. They've become much more competent after their recent buyout/reorganization, too.

I stopped caring about Deus Ex about halfway through Deus Ex. Overrated.

When a successful franchise gets a sequel from a different team, hard-core fans start criticizing before the game is out. Come on, give the developers some chance and prepare to accept changes with an open mind.

I liked Deus Ex, but it has its flows and, in my humble opinion, it's far from perfection.

Why shouldn't we criticize it for things we know its doing? Regenerating health is regenerating health. Its a major step towards consolization and over-simplification which isn't how it was in the first game, and frankly, what makes all modern games kinda suck.

And The first deus ex was fantastic. I would ban you Pi if I could.

what? IO interactive made all Hitman games. eidos is now dead, and employees now work for square enix.

Completely agree with this. I've always been against regenerating health.

I think it as its applications, just not every single game ever as it seems to be going. The one thing I hate about regenerating health is that it's so hard to determine if you're about to die. Like in BF BC 2 sometimes I'm just dead without really knowing I was close to death... then other times it seems like I get shot 40 times and I'm fine. I don't really know how med kits help me except to shorten recovery time, but the game itself really isn't condusive to being tested... with all the bullets and 'splosions.

That's just one example though. The original Call of Duty worked well without regenerating health, but then they added it in CoD 2 (or was it United Offensive?) and it overall the game felt about the same in gameplay. In terms of realism it makes even less sense than having magical med kits that heal bullet wounds. I hope they keep using both systems and make new ones and hybrids (like FarCry 2) just for variety.

You'd ban someone for differing opinions? What kind of fascism is this?

FYI it's not a teaser. Teaser for Deus Ex 3 was realeased long time ago (with some artworks and screens).

I believe it will be a great game, we don't know much about the story (only that "Cyber Renaissance" sounds better than generic conspiracies from DEx1) but the art direction is absolutely superb.

Regenerating health is not a problem for me. All I ask for is: exploration, places to visit, mysteries to solve, good characters and writing. The adventure side is more important than the combat side. My personal taste.

Their circlejerking over Cyber Renaissance and the new Human Revolution subtitle makes makes me think this will be another boring civil rights affair (ala IW) with far less emphasis on the intelligent, thought-provoking plots and conspiracies that Deus Ex offered.

I will forgive the presence of regenerating health if it's made up for in all other aspects. But then the very idea of a Deus Ex game that doesn't have some kind of health management system or limb crippling penalties strikes me as running counter to the DX experience. Fallout 3 should have reminded everybody that being able to heal specific parts of your body is still feasible in this day and age. There's no reason to have such a feature gutted for something else in a game like this.

I totally agree with this statement. Its really hard to say how this will turn out. Imagine if someone tried to make a legitimate new System Shock. I think it would be doomed from the start as this potentially is.

Hong Kong was too long to wait for Regeneration first time round. Hoarding Medkits and Montybars doesn't make your experience any more complex.
