I was going to post something deep and meaningful, but then I got to the "could god (insert text), I mean he is god after all, he could do anything! Think about it." part, and I lost my train of thought. well imma sleep now.
Big Bang > God
Stephen Hawking > Jesus
Same. It seems like we might be finally getting through to people, since now instead of refuting they are begging us to stop proving them wrong.
no because i dont see how some random people i dont know on a HL2 forum are going to pull me away from my beliefs, this topic in general is just incredibly boring now. If you wanna restrict your minds pure logic then fine, but i choose to expand my mind as i believe there is something infinitely greater than what we merely see/hear/feel in our current existance.
THIS is what really happened: Only 25 seconds, and it explains everything: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY0onv1gvsA
Warning: Family Guy
I highly endorse and or support stern cell research

Sorry that some cant contemplate the awsome inteligence that atheists claim they have, although i do find it rather pathetic that you attempt to convey this 'inteligence' on a forum on the internet, and somehow get satisfaction in brutally challenging the beleifs of others, you are all obviously beings of infinite wisdom and intelect, and and according to your narrow-minded logic, anyone who chooses to believe or have faith in anything, are frankly retards. You lot have the moral capicity of a moose.
I would like to add, there is no point flaming this comment, as my time in the topic is now done.

And to address our moose-like moral capacity: I was under the impression that the Bible told you to stone unruly children to death?
To be fair, I don't recall him explicitly saying he believed in the Bible. Just that he believed there was a "higher power"... whatever the hell that means.
Ah, okay. However, that really doesn't seem to fall in line with his "moral capacity of a moose" comment. Unless he means irrational, arbitrary beliefs make you more moral. To be fair, I don't recall him explicitly saying he believed in the Bible. It's pretty self explanatory......
Trying to successfully persuade Christians using any of the above points is futile. They just end up saying we can't understand God. Well, if that's true then maybe I don;t really want to know this mysterious guy who created us.
And if there is a God, I believe he engineered the fall. So, I think that's pretty f*cked.
he engineered the fall to give us the option of choice. He wants us to love him, and you can't love him if you don't have the option not to.
so ya, he prolly did.
Since God is supposed to be omnipotent then he knew that Adam and Eve were going to take the apple no matter what. Why was the choice even offered then? Did he want to make it seem like it was our choice?he engineered the fall to give us the option of choice. He wants us to love him, and you can't love him if you don't have the option not to.
Pick your battles dude, I'm an athiest."Higher power"? Then define it.
Is it totally omnipotent? Is it omniscient? Does it exist on a material plane? If not, what is the specific nature of its location/status? Does it even watch over us any more? Could it be dead? Is such a being fallible? Does it too have a "higher power" that it looks to? How was it born, if it was born at all? Is it male or female? Both? Or do genders not apply to this entity? Does it exist with a purpose? Is there anything fatal to it?
I'm rarely able to get consistent interpretations of what such a term means. Not only on character, but the fundamental natures of the beings themselves. And most explanations for their existence are based on hokey, metaphysical tripe that conveniently skips around the burden of proof. It's the same as "Oh, god exists outside of time and space!". Nobody knows what the **** that is.
To further expand, you could even say another person is a higher power. For example I could be a higher power. George Bush could be a higher power(I hope not). Canada could be a higher power.I was not battling you, but I did wish to illustrate how incoherent and loose such a thing can be. Diluting it to just anything that could be considered a higher power renders such a claim extremely weak. The universe could be said to be a higher power. But is it a god?
