we cant possibly know what happened before the singularity. Therefor it cant be applied to any scientific model. What we CAN do is apply everything we know and hope to get an understanding of the fate of the universe. Scientists have discovered that the universe is continually expanding, leading them to believe the process of expansion and collapse is wrong. Instead, the best conceived theory is that the universe will continue to expand for billions of years and eventually every atom in the universe separates. You wouldnt think that we could get something out of nothing, but obviously we did.

If God made humans the same week as all the other crap, then please explain dinosaur bones.

Big Bang ftw.

I've actually heard that said by a catholic priest during theology class ...I snickered

we all know carbon doesnt go on dates, liar

hmm, after reading my post i think i fail :(

RANDOM: id love to see a GOOD debate between an atheist and a theist, dawkins never really gets aggressive with people

creationists by their very nature are irrational ..I too would like to see a rational dbate but I dont think it's possible ...especially when the majority are people like this ..I mean their main method of attack is dismissal/redicule: rhetorical questions such as "I mean do we really believe we came from monkeys?" does nothing except galvanise the slow witted into supporting whatever cockamanie idiotology that is contrary to evolution/big bang ..they dont even care what it is so long as it's against evolution/big bang ...i mean some of this is very much in evidence within this very thread:

"what? how can something come from nothing? the bible says ...."

Some form of matter had to exist. Matter doesn't just come into existence.

Actually it does, they are called virtual particles, they come into existence then immediately go back out of existence. But their time existing is so small we cant really detect them. these virtual particles are responsible for what keeps the nucleus together, and the electric force, and some other stuff too.

stern, this video is annoying.....the guy is a friggin idiot

Wow, just wow :O its mindbogling to see someone actually believing god throws lightning at people.. You must live a pretty strict life Kouler...

Just wanted to post and say that Scientist found evidence that atoms blinks in and out of existence in wacuum. Those atoms only lives for picoseconds, but it they somehow should be repelled from eachother and not die out, they would create an energy release the size of the Big Bang.

Not that its the best solution to the whole Big Bang, but its something none the less :)

Oh and i believe in the Big Bang theori, not some crazy dude hanging in the sky striking people down with lightning when hes mad.. thats.. just crazy talk.

ya he's an "authority" ..and one of the biggest proponents for creationism ..that is until he was arrested for tax evasion and a whole slew of other crimes ...he's also the founder of Dinosaur Adventure Land

The park depicts humans and dinosaurs co-existing in the last 4,000-6,000 years and also contains a depiction of the Loch Ness monster. The park does not explore "the Jurassic and Cretaceous eras," but rather "depicts dinosaurs as coexisting with human beings."

these people need to be cleasened with fire

Then where are the dinosaurs now!?

Its bad enough people have to believe such illogical things, but for people to STILL believe the Earth was born in 6 days...

This article with Kent Hovind almost ruined my day...
Fortunately, he is serving a ten-year term in federal prison. :p

that makes sense if the universe had a shelf life of peanut butter, or they used a 14 billion year old jar of peanut butter

it makes you laugh when you can tell they have no idea what they are talking about

i lol'd several times on that Kent Hovind vid, interesting vid though. Ill be honest, all this opposition between the two, i just dont know what to believe anymore, both sides make insane arguments with no proper evidence. I fear this is going to change me as a person :S

scientific study developed over years of research/study/observation or a series of quaint little stories written and rewritten for hundreds of years with no evidence except blind faith ......I think the choice is pretty obvious

Behold the kiwano, the creationist's nightmare!

kiwanofd2.jpg

This vine fruit is covered in spikes making it unsuited for handheld consumption. You have to peel off the rind to get at the fruit, or elsewise cut it. Once that's done that actual edible part has the consistency of sloppy jello and the seeds get everywhere. It's a very messy thing to eat, unlike the banana. Interestingly enough...IT TASTES LIKE BANANA!

...how exactly is that a creationist's nightmare?

Also I don't believe the Big Bang and God are mutually exclusive.

because it's the opposite of what the banana creationist video says: that the banana is proof of a divine being because it fits perfectly in a human's hand ...so this prickly banana like thing proves that rediculous notion wrong

watch the banana video

Ooooooooh. Heh heh. That is quite a ridiculous argument.

no because i dont challenge the atheist via the Bible. I could never be a true atheist after having a faith in something all my life, so after much thought i believe i shall stick by my faith that there is a higher power that simply started the Big Band to lead to the sequence of events that eventually leads us here, that much of what happens here dooesn't concern him, and only rare divine interventions are evidence of when he has intervened. I also retain my belief we contain a soul that controls the morals of ourselves and is the only part that lives for eternity.

You can call that what you want, but imo, a lot of the atheists views, especially their theory on the Big Bang, just happening randomly out of nothing, is just as improbable as atheists claim God creating the world is (even though thats not what i believe in).

Lmao, the banana as it is today is a product of human selection (evolution) from a wild banana that does not fit perfectly in the hand.

Stupid ****ing creationists.

There was no time before the singularity... that's like asking what's North of the North Pole. We still don't know if the Universe will slow down and contract or continue expanding, that depends how much mass there is in the Universe.

Instead, the best conceived theory is that the universe will continue to expand for billions of years and eventually every atom in the universe separates. You wouldnt think that we could get something out of nothing, but obviously we did.

Atoms will not "separate" due to Universal expansion as you suggest.

'obviously we did'

ROFL! what an argument..

Yea and what about Coconuts, Cantaloupe, avacoto, watermelon etc etc. These fruits are an absolute bitch to eat without tools...

Oh yea and banana's are going extinct...god must be angry.

Evidence suggests it will not contract, yet continue to expand. And the idea of atoms eventually separating comes right out of "A Brief History of Time" by Steven Hawking. The site you give doesnt really appear like a good source.

I can't believe God did such a sloppy job of killing off the dinosaurs to make room for us humans; were still digging up fossils to this day! I can just see him slapping his head(Doh!). I find it even more baffling and to a certain extent bewildering that he spun the wheel of fortune in deciding what he'd take them out with...hell, he couldn't just delete them - he took a big step back and launched an asteroid at Earth! Boom! Sloppy. Just sloppy.

Kouler....your post was filled with such lol that I can't see how it's quite possible to take what you're saying seriously.

Yes.

and you see, this is where your argument falls flat on its face.

God is the most conceivibly complex thing in the universe. If God is all powerful, all knowing and trancendent, he would have to be extremely complex.

It is far more probable for the infinite regress to start at the big bang, which is simply the laws of physics acting on a large number of simple particles in a small space than for it to start at an intelligent being. Intelligence requires a fantastic explaination, while simple particles do not. If the universe is too complex to have been made out of simple physical and chemical interactions, then the designer of that universe would have to be at least as complex, if not many orders of magnitude more complex than the universe he created. Therefore, the argument begs the question. Invoking god is an entire non-answer to the question.

For all the Atheist out there I have a question for you. How do you live from day to day without getting extremly deppresed without really having anything that motivates you. I would think being a Christian if nothing else would just be good for me just for the reason that I have somthing to be excited about. Plus if there is a God than you get to reap the reward instead of facing the consequences.

Just for my fellow Christians I am a very strong Christian and I am not just a Christian just in case there is a God. I very strongly feel that there is a God.

That still makes no sense. Why should there be matter here in the first place? The same goes for God. Why the hell should there be a God here in the first place?
Which really does bring me back to my first post in the thread (page 9). :bounce:
To continue that, I think the best choice of humans from that would be no religion, no atheism, just agnosticism. Unfortunately 'best' and 'human' don't mix well.

I am going to challenge some of you atheist. I am not going to sit here and argue with people that have no respect for what I belive in. I am not going to argue with anyone unless that will tell me that they have some respect for me and they don't think that being a Christian means you are a complete moron. If that is any of you people I want you to send me a private message and then I will actualy talk to you. If one of you do that I will have tons more respect for you and a lot of people on this forum.

PS Krynn72. Before you post a long post like that has a bunch of ways to prove the bible wrong you should try to actually read the Bible and then you might understand that things actually do make sense.
