SEVEN! That's almost proof that god exists!

Gotta stop quoting South Park... anyway:

"Couldn't evolution be the answer to 'how' and not the answer to 'why'?"

Afterwards, Mr. Garrison, inspired by Richard Dawkins, who who'll later have buttsex with, puts kyle on display in front of the whole class with a "dummy" hat on.

yes I do, when the odds are against you only a fool would stick around and take whatever may come ...example ..i'm currently looking for a new house ..one of the popular areas near everything i want also happens to be a very jewish orthodox neighbourhood ..after looking at homes in the area my wife and I decided we didnt want to live there as we would be a minority ..my kids would be a very small minority in a predominately jewish school ..even though it's public and no religion is pushed my kids would still stand out like sore thumbs ..I'd much rather live in an area that is open to people who are different ..not isolationist

sometimes moving away from a situation is the only recourse ..and in the context of this thread there is no way I'd ever allow my kids to grow up in an enviroment where secularism is rediculed and faith is put above reason ...it's just counterproductive to giving my kids a balanced and reaslitic world view
****, dude, I was joking. But okay.

Too bad evolution and deities don't really mix well. They only do so in politically correct bullshit talks to soothe the religious mobs.

I apologise if I came across as confrontational ..that wasnt my intent ..I was mostly addressing the idea of living in an intolerant predominately religious neighbourhood not your comments

Wow, 20 pages.

And for my valuable contribution to the topic, I would like to go off-topic slightly, and suggest The Big Bang, as the name for the next great porno.

Where do I get my "I voted" badge that I can prominently display with pride?

I remember when I was in the 7th grade and I was writing a paper on Big Bang. I searched the webb but the only thing that came up was porn sites :( And the teacher just laughed.

They explain an expanding universe, ill find the source for the atoms

well, it is a creationist/evolutionist thread

They explain an expanding universe, ill find the source for the atoms

Don't you mean an ever increasing entropy in the universe as it gets older and older? Which, correct me if I'm wrong, would eventually (billions and billions of years in the future) lead to even the most stable particles (such as protons) decaying.

Not sure, but if you have a source id like to see it

The sad thing is, I've actually seen that "why are the still monkeys" by ignoerant creatistionists. Dumbasses :hmph:

Not to mention when i was younger and a more sterner christian, praying to God whenever i felt really depressed or down, as soon the prayer ended i always felt much better with myself. Not to mention when i pretty young once i was suffering from severe food poisoning for two weeks, the second week, day before my birthday, i felt so bad it was untrue, prayed to God the night before, asking that i be well again the next day for my birthday, when i woke i felt right as rain, i even felt much better than i did before i got ill, thats what actually stimulated my faith in the first place
There is actually a scientific explanation for this. You healed because of your faith, not because of God. Let me explain.

You're aware of the placebo effect, correct? A measurable, observable improvement in health not attributed to treatment. Placebos aren't actually medicine, but because the patient believes they are being given medicine, treatment that will make them better, a biochemical response is triggered in their brain due to the expectancy of a positive reaction. Medicine = get better. The very belief that you will get better stimulates the body's neurochemical, hormonal and immune systems bypassing the "learned behavior" of a sick person; that is, when you're sick you tend to feel sick, when you're better you tend to...well, feel better. :) So your mind is both anticipating and preparing itself to feel better because you believe that it will.

And this faith doesn't have to apply to any religious belief; placebos are false medicine. Nothing to do with religion. But they work in the same way. The "power of positive thinking," everyone's heard of that. Turns out it's the truth. In fact religious patients tend to have less sickness and recover from illness faster than those who don't, simply because they believe a higher power is watching over them and making them feel better. This does not, however, mean that it is so. It is simply that their minds are tricking their bodies. And while the benefit is clear, I don't think this advocates religion. As I said, positive thinking can come from nontheistic sources.

So am I sorry to tell you, my friend, but it was your belief in a God that would help you, not an actual God, that healed you.

Yup. It's right up there with shit like "microwaved food gives you cancer".

And when you try and explain to them that not all the monkeys changed to humans (which, besides being a disgustingly dumbed-down and inaccurate explanation, actually causes me pain to say), they can't comprehend it.

*suicide*

Well it does, or can do at least.

It depends what type of food you are microwaving, the high intensity of heat can alter and bin certain components of food making carcinogens, for example cooking of large peices of meat in the microwave is very bad as it forms heterocyclic amines which are one of the most potent carcinogens you can have in your diet.

There is also the fact microwave 'safe' plastics release xenoestrogens into the food being cooked which act as potent estrogens and can ruin male fertility after repeated exposure.

And there's also the fact that the rapid heating destroys a large percentage of nutrients in food.

I do not use microwave ovens and cannot recomend anyone else does.

You could say that creastinoists are the uncahnged monekys :D

lol

'creatistionists' - trying to pronounce that damaged my brain.

besides that, it smells weird and tastes like rubber shit.

lol again

Meh. Just one less thing I can relate to Christianity via stupidity :p

yeah i know of that theory but i doubt it was the case then since i only prayed then because it wouldn't hurt since i didn't really believe in God then. In all honesty, there was always an overwhelming feeling of doubt that nothing would happen, but it did.

You take this shit waaaaay too far dude....ive heard of alot, but not eating anything form a microwave? Thats borderline obsessive...

agreed lol

'here i just microwaved us a pizza'
'noooooooo TEH GEERRRMMZZZ!!!11'

*throws it out of the window*

Maybe a little belief went a long way for you. Also it might not've been so much praying to God as it was you not wanting to be sick on your birthday. That thought would be a big motivator in your mind wanting to make your body better.

There's also the fact that most food poisoning clears up within a few days. 2 weeks is a long period to be affected, but it was 2 weeks...that's a lot of healing time. It's probably just coincidental that you healed after you prayed, given such a long timeframe of sickness.

Whatever the reason, don't you think it's a little absurd to suggest that God healed a little boy so he could have a nice birthday, considering the people who really suffer and see no such miracles? He's not supposed to do any miracles anyway on account of free will and no interference. I mean, being reasonable here, having your faith "stimulated" because you believe an omnipotent, omnisentient, omnipresent being who can create universes and bend reality to his will would heal some kid's stomache ache...come on, Shift. Come on. :)

lol suppose, but its cool to think so xD

The problem with prayer is when it comes true and your all happy but in the back of your head theres a "how do I know it wouldn't have happened anyway?"

unless what happened was pretty much impossible

K it's cool! :imu:
