WoW Cataclysm

You know what?
After the new Defias quests, and especially after Keeshan..

Blizzard wins this battle. They actually made a good mmo.

I started like 12 hours ago and I'm at level 22 on my nelf mage.

Man I love the quests.

The entire Indiana Jones parody quest line was awesome. And the dragon lady that fights with deathwing whose name in English I do not know was seriously awesome too.

It might be because I'm slightly drunk, but I want to be a dragon now. Hah!

Edit: Also, the dungeons are way harder. Back in LC all I had to do was c-1 1 1 2 3 3 3 1 1 1 1 2 3 3 3 4 4 but now I have to do some crowd control and stuff.

I love Logging in to WoW and getting gifts! the zeppelin I got is pretty fun but the Holiday Cheer Wand is hilarious when using on the auctioneers

I bought a Vial of Sands today for a massive amount of money I made from farming elementium ore. It is amazing.

They don't take nearly an hour with a decent group.

Now if only it weren't so hard to find one. :p

sent some lower level friends 100 gold each for xmas. hopefully that also helps them level up faster

lvl 83---> 84 seems to be taking me much longer and I can only imagine it'll take me even longer from 84 to 85. can't wait to hit 85 though and do some upper level shit

83 to 84 is something like 5.5 million XP.

84 to 85 is 9 million.

Have fun! :)

lol oh gawd! No wonder why its taking me forever. 80-83 was a breeze but then it just smacks you when you work at it for hours and don't see much progress

I've seen plenty of 85's. Maybe you just have too much of a life?

The trek to 85 really isn't as fiendish as I'm making it sound. Quests award XP out the butt, and they're generally easy and plentiful in most Cata zones, save for a few which are tedious or poorly designed, but far from actually being difficult. Protip: discover dungeons as soon as they show up on your LFG screen and you have the requisite gear (see entrances video below), and never leave the dungeon queue as long as you can bear it. Dungeons are good XP, on top of good gear which will in turn net you quicker XP. ;)

Oh, and you'll need the practice for heroics. Boy will you ever.

Heroics aren't that hard. Just make sure you ask the tank what you're expected to do, and if you're hunter, notify that you need to throw your trap before everyone else does crowd control.

None of them are exceptionally hard. Certain bosses in certain instances are a lot tougher than others, but generally it's just a fair challenge. The issue is that some people are dumb and suck at everything. You need a tank that is competent and knows how to maneuver, a healer that knows how to heal effectivel and efficiently, and dps that knows how to do their job and CC without breaking it. The most common failure is the DPS. These are the people who are playing while watching TV, eating a sandwich, and getting a colonoscopy. They really only know how to press the 2-3 buttons it takes to feign effective dps and don't ever consider or attempt doing things another way. They're the people that make those fights difficult. In WotLK they could suck and it wouldn't really matter. Heroics were so easy you could 3 man most of them. Now it just takes some coordination and skill.

The sad part is, prolly 6 months down the road when the next tiers of crap show up, these heroics will turn back in to WotLK heroics and people will be chain pulling and blazing through them in 20 minutes. Hell I've already seen it starting. I like the 5 man content but I wish it just wasn't so ultimately limited like it as been in the past.

Depends on how they treat the newer tiers and Heroic Dungeon rewards. If they allow sets to be purchased along the line then it'll certainly be like that.

That's basically how it worked in WotLK. They kept releasing new tiers of stuff that you could buy with old points effectively turning 5 man dungeons into glorified point runs and a chore. They've been doing that with PvP gear for a while. I figure they'll do it again.

That's what I've been telling most people who ask about how different this expansion really is. If you overlook the blatant differences it boils down to the same structure all over again.

I absolutely despise Halls of Origination, heroic or not. It is just too damn long. Too many fights to know, and with a good group it'll still take you forever.

:arms:
Screw you. You're the type of person who thought Maraudon was too long.

Wait they shortened Maraudon? Blasphemy!

WoW seems to be becoming more casual/ADHD friendly by the day.

Anyone who vents the opinion that WoW is becoming more casual friendly and thinks that's a bad thing should be forced to run BRD for all eternity.

Screw you carebear, BRD was great. I used to 3-man scholomance in blues at lvl 60. 99% of WoW players are damn scrubs.

The game is much easier now. The only real challenge left is doing pvp since there's basically always someone better than you. Of course, there's the fact that Blizzard can never balance anything thanks to the overwhelming amount of subjectivity in their reasoning and their relentless pandering to the whiners. The most ridiculous aspect of WoW balancing is that, once they decide something is too strong or too weak, they don't do small changes over time with testing - they do a HUGE often gamebreaking change and then have to do these rebounding changes to fix that change. I was just thinking last night about how Paladins 6 years ago are nothing at all like paladins today. There's practically no vestiges of the original paladin mechanics remaining aside from a few similarly named spells. When 4.0 hit they drastically changed healing mechanics (for the third time I believe) and added Holy Power. Then they found out there was a way to basically exploit the mechanics with a specific spell. So instead of just weakening that spell, they utterly crushed it (it's borderline useless now) and also took out a primary healing mechanic that enabled the spell to be used.

I just don't get why they can't balance things with small changes isntead of sweeping insane changes.

Paladins are also a better class in every shape, way and form. Seriously, vanilla Paladins were a terrible class. I really can't think of a single way in which vanilla WoW was a better game, it wasn't even harder, just tedious and tiresome. Or it was harder because it was broken, like how the threatcap was 43% lower for Horde raids because they didn't have BoS. The only things you could do at 60 were raid (which cost you your entire day or evening), participate in the horrible Honor grind or hop around in Ironforge. Five mans? No one did those, the rewards were terrible, they weren't fun and good luck finding a group. The only time anyone did them was with the 45 minute Stratholme 'challenge'. This longing back for the original TBC heroics is also nonsense, they weren't challenging, they just had trash that hit really hard, while the bosses were still easy tank and spank without interesting mechanics. How to deal with the hard hitting trash? Just bring classes that could CC, ideally two mages. Your class didn't have CC? GTFO.

Cataclysm is a better game in every way and in the long run and almost every decision made by Blizzard has been a good one.
