Same here, didn´t have any prolems before this patch. Now it stutters like mad. Glad i finnished the game yesterday, but u guess the replay value just took a dive :(
I can report the same tging that everybode else is seeing with the beta 4.12, massive gain i cs:source. The best thing is that the minimum fps have increased drasticly making the experience so much better :)
Well, I can honestly say that going from 512 to 1gig is the best upgrade I ever done. Doom3 went from a stuttery mess to a supersmooth experience :). I think this will be the case with Half-life 2, and don´t listen to people with 512mb ram telling you not to upgrade, you have to experience it to...

BUT you can not forget that nvidia ****ed a lot of people with their geforceFX line of cards. Promesing dx9 effects in full precision but ended up with dx 8.1 effects because the cards just could not handle anything that had "shaders" in it´s name :)

I´m sure going from 512 to 1gig of ram will greatly improve the fluidnes of the game as we have seen in Far Cry and ut2004. Othervise the guide was good, but speculations as the game haven´t been release yet.
Looks bretty good, just make sure that the barton has 333fsb instead of 400fsb, the km400 (kt400 on matx) can only handle 333fsb.
I would buy a nforce2 mobo, there is some cheap matx boards around.

Nvidia cheating with it´s drivers are no big news. But the bad things, as you said, is that when ever someone brings up an issue with Ati´s drivers, cheat or not, everybody...
