On HL2, some textures flicker. Does this count as artifacting? Is there any way to stop flickering textures?

Too right! :D This really annoys me. I can see no-friendly-fire being useful in ultra-easy mode, for a player who has trouble not shooting his own foot, but on hard mode...

Like the Crab & Mortar Synths seen in the citadel. I'd like to see those in Aftermath. I personally think the Hydra would be a totally boring monster to fight against. Better to have something like the Antlion King, or more synths, in my opinion.

Will there be an appreciable difference in performance between my 3500+ and a 4000+? The 4000+ is the best CPU I can afford, so an FX model is not an option. Would I be better off just waiting a little longer to buy a 7800 GT to replace my 6600 GT?

Aftermath is an expansion pack, ergo Blue Shift, etc.(although hopefully a bit better). Lost Coast is a level designed to test HDR lighting. Seeing as Aftermath is a separate game, you will have to access it, not HL2, to play it, like CS:Source.
