Technicly it wouldn't have to. Going gold is when the publisher accepts the RC for distibution and makes the "gold" master CD.

I rather liked Xen conecept wise, but gameplay wise it sucked. Too many boring puzzles. Extended low grav segments (especially coupled with jumping puzzles) are horrible ideas and should never be done.

It's possible that once you get far enough out the boat could sink and the ichyosaurs would eat you. Though even then you could turn on god mode. So yeah, there will have to be invisible walls in the ocean, hopefully we'll have to cheat to find them though.

They didn't waste bandwith. It's a known fact that they only sent us 500 meg for the first preload. In regards to the releaste date thing, for movies places would usualy get movies two weeks before the release date. However, the game industry isn't nearly as streamlined as the movie...

Not necessarily. I believe someone here extracted all the files from the first preload (1 gig) and it "uncompressed" to 800 meg. There may be a lot of empty space in there.

Actually having currents effect objects would be really simple. That's just a physics force. Half Life 2 already does bouyancy.

I've never read that they planned on closing it. I would think they'd let it run up until they release the full version.

I personally turn mics off. But really, what if the three year old looked at the screen and say you KILLING PEOPLE. Regardless, every since voice support was added you could hit scoreboard and click on someones name to mute them. I havn't tested this in source because I turn mics off, though...

I've always found it odd that people can play a game about killing other people and at the same time be offended by profanity.

Yeah, I had that same bug, it started with me after the last patch.

Good explanation, I've never actually noticed it, so I'd wager thats why I couldn't tell the difference between vsync on and off.
