I'm not sure how many mp servers there will be early on. We have a clan dedicated so i'll be getting a CS:Source server up and running as soon as possible and then i'll probably hit the single player i think.
I have to admit though that as much as i liked half life the time spent sp pales in...
I have to admit that this thread has turned into a massive pro non-pro argument but the suggestion to have shields on cs_maps only like defusal kits on de_maps makes a lot of sense.
I would also make sure that shield carriers can still be shot in the feet though.
Oooh and while I'm here the most wanted improvement I'd like to see is not gameplay related but client/server based.
Why are rates configurable? I understand them pretty well and have mine set up well but the amount of people with high rate values and stupidly low updaterates is increasing...
Personally I quite like the shield I just think it's too good for the money.
2 possible improvements I can think of, either it should cost twice as much to buy or it should be shorter so you can still get shot in the feet unless you crouch with it which I must admit is what I expected before...
The vid in which gabes comp "lagged" is the CS:Source one when the barrels explode from the grenade blast.
I've watched it back and baring in mind it is a demo playback which has been directed (swith to ct's and snipe moment etc) I believe it's actually a bit of slow motion kicking in from...
I have to say i have not read most of this thread and I apologise if this covers old ground but.....
Valve has gone on and on about not seeing gordon for years and the reflections in morrors has come from this.
Now to me the simple solution would just have been to give the man a helmet...
Got to hand it to cypher he has pretty much covered all the bases.
Just to derail the thread slightly. There was an issue around this time last year with the Nvidia implentation of PS2.0 running very badly on the 5600 and 5900 cards so Valve recoded hl2 to use ps1.1 in many places instead of...
Is it just me that wouldn;t mind vivendi not being involved with valve and HalfLife2 at all?
If VU went belly up then valve could sell immediately after game completion via steam during which time every other publisher out there would fall over itself to try to get a piece of the hl2 pie.
para, cs:source iss hipping the same day as hl2. CS2 won't start being deveolped or even planned till after hl2 ships. They are not going to ship on the same day.
Just to try to clear a few things up.
Gabe and Doug lombardi did an interview that was posted today on the forums that said cs2 will be made but they have yet to start dev on it and would have a holiday first. What part Gooseman will play in it has not been stated that i know of.
CS:source...
Male 26
Played hl1 a few times through and played cs for 2 years.
I want multiplayer manipulator monkey tennis.
Seriously though (queue death threats) the single player doesn't bother me that much. I want addictive, secure and stable multiplayer games. CS:Source is really a step towards...
It'll keep me busy responding to half and starting the other half ;-)
God working your notice persiod when you've been made redundant due to not having anything to do is probably the most tedious experience of your life, apart from reading posts by me that is.
Not sure about Goose but I got replies from Jesse on [email protected]
He might be able to put you in contact with goose but he's been very quite ever since the sale of cs to valve.
I get enough of people whinging about awps, insisting they all 500000 of them played beta 1 despite it only being downloaded a fraction of that amount etc etc etc on steam and cs forums. If you don't like CS don't play it, simple.
Right, back on topic.
There was talk a long time back...
It's a mix. Can't find the link just now but Gabe said a while back that any object on a map can be tagged as server or client side physics modelled by the mapper.
Doesn't really matter, just thought it might give a bit of an insight into what the maps will be like, if cs:source aztec resembles the cz one then so might dust and dust2 etc with all the benches and tents etc.
Don't think it's been announced officially but I'd expect it to since valve and ati seem to have worked together a lot to help eachother get the most from their respective products.
