1. the source is out. not changing the source before release means 100x better cheats, 100x faster than the previous hl.
2. taking more time to finish up whatever they were working on will make for a better game.
the way i figure, the longer they delay it, the more time they have to add in more features, make existing features work or look better, and get the game even more polished. As far as gameplay goes, nothing negative can come of this delay.
Now of course Valve is going to be spending a lot...
i bet they're taking a break from their insane work schedule in the last few weeks. I imagine 18 hour days. I bet gabe gave everybody a day off or two, since the release date got pushed back so far.
I really hope nvidia doesn't try to pull a fast one on its FX users with some cheap HL2 only optimizations in its next DET's. With the recent scandal over 3dmark, it seems like the graphics industry is turning into a late night talk show cast.
This was just a huge blunder by nvidia, and a...
Fastest as of now is the P4 3.2Ghz on a 800mhz bus, despite what the communists at apple would like you to think. AMD is definitely the best price/performance.
The Barton is a decent upgrade, and provides great overclockability. Despite what some numbnut said previously, the Barton does...
I can totally understand you having trouble with other people comments, but most people here aren't able to provide constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is probably the most helpful thing a modeller can recieve, as it is a mostly objective opinion. I see most people either chiming in...
looks great, but the tie, lapel, and shirt collar should just be part of the texture, instead of poly's. I guess thats a personal decision, but it'd save my gf4 a few fps :) i guess if you were going to have his tie flop around it'd have to be modelled... damn that would kick ass
the model looks superb. But i dont understand why people render stuff with GI. Sure it looks fantastic, but i'd rather see a wireframe and a decently lit render over a fancy schmancy GI render.
You could remove quite a few poly's from that bad boy before you put it in game. But if you did...
I seriously doubt very many people are going to go get HL2 on the day it comes out. I used to work at Circuit City, and when UT2003 came out, copies weren't flying off the shelf. It took us about 3 weeks to sell the first shipment we got, which is damn fast for a game, but we never ran out of...
I like the idea. Its nice to see an idea that doesn't revolve around being stuck, alone somewhere and you have to "kill everyone and get out" to win. Something that hasn't been dont 100 times, like being part of a squad or whatnot.
you'll never see the back anyway.. and remember those 2000 polys you're working towards? Well, you can always remove poly's you wont be able to see from the first person perspective, which would probably be about 35% of them. So you could even add more detail to the top, ammo guage, or wherever.
yeah, it was a while after halflife came out. There was no demo when half life came out into stores. Thats why i didn't buy it. Then, i played the demo a few weeks or months or whatever, and was amazed. so i bought.
