female combine assassin!!!! We need something we WILL fear! We need that kind of challenge! Give her one very hard-hitting long range gun to make us run like hell for cover, give her lots of nades, give her superhuman agility and speed, give her the capacity to sneak up to us silently and that classic silenced automatic-firing pistol!

"converted" Combine soldiers, that, for some reason or another, joined the rebels so they can survive too?

combine zombie (is it possible anyway?)

Encounter against a tank (and the combine dropships), when we are on foot and we have/can to blow them up. A bit like HL1. It seriously lacked that in HL2 (but there was enough striders and gunships) since we were always equiped with what we needed to blow up the few tanks we saw in water canal. I would have liked so much to have to deal with a manned combine tank when i was on foot. There was also that time.. on the beach, when we got the dunebuggy we meet some combines on foot fighting antlions... and they didnt used their intact tank that was just right next to them!!

Combine snipers that we can see, and they can move. Not just that boring shoot-a-explosive-in-the-black-window-and-they-dont-run-away snipers.

Combines that dont charge to their doom, but have some sense of self-preservation and understand the simple rule that " when you are dead, you are useless, stay alive and kill THEM!"

I would like some shooting out of the backs of vechiles controlled by computer. Like being chassed by a strider through city 17.
More fashionable head crab zombies with a range of outfits and accessories.
 
I really like the zoo idea, specifically the elephant. You've fought all these zombified animals, it's totally dark except for the moonlight, and there's fog everywhere. Suddenly, out of the darkness comes this horrifying monstrosity- an elephant, red-eyed, caked in mud, blood and god knows what else, absolutely covered in headcrabs. I get the chills thinking about it.


Also, I think that friendly fire should be on, but it should impact the PLOT, rather than the game right now. For instance, as you kill more and more allies, your followers gradually lose respect for you, and start doubting your abilities and skills. Eventually, if you really **** up, they'll overthrow you, instate a new leader, and declare you an enemy. Now you have to fight against EVERYONE!

or something along the lines of that.

That just wouldn't work. I definatley prefer it with freindly fire off.
 
When I posted that, I ended up getting too sucked into the friendly fire idea, and overdid it. Originally, my idea was much more subtle. It was just that as you'd accidentally kill more of your fellow fighters, they'd act more rebellious and suspicious (whispering bad things about you when they think they're alone, maybe hesitating to follow your orders occasionally, etc). I dunno, I just think it would flesh out the characters, make them seem more realistic.

Sort out the "let me get out of your way" problems first, then think about adding systems where citizens who get in your way start hating you. Resistence Fighters were enough a liability without them being susceptable to your weapons fire.

304) This bad ass gun I saw this thing in the pre-release photos and it was soooo pwn. I waited the whole game to start owning it up with that thing and i never got it! man i was pissed. and valve even uses the top half of that photo on half-life2.com! WTF! there is another picture of it in the infamous hydra screen shot: here
306) More alien buildings (the citadel was pwn).
307) A larger assortment of misc objects (i got sick of seeing the same barrels over and over again, and heaps of trash got redundant)
308) More sick music (listening to it right now)

I would also like to point out that no matter how much we want to understand and experiance every aspect of the half-life universe, the reason the game was so cool was the sparsity of its surreal elements. Lets hope valve can pull it off again.

I think the headcrab-ravenholm-scary-level-ish-thing is THE COOLEST IDEA EVER.

309) I looooved the gunships and all the other insect/vehicle things that the combine have. The bump mapping+lighting makes me want to reach out and touch it, i wanna see more stuff like that. plus they have really cool explosions (or at least the gunships do).

and several people have said that they would like to have a better way to kill the stalkers-walkers. i have one word to say to you:

And those levels you just showed are all in the game, just tweaked...and one other thing, don't talk about the leak :O

1) The material you posted is leaked, copyrighted stuff. It is illegal to host it, and we WILL NOT ever change that rule. NO LEAK MATERIAL. NO ILLEGAL MATERIAL.

2) The - "I want alyx pr0n" posts are NOT tolerated, they are deleted/closed/warned. Garry's mod porn is also banned here, if you had taken the time to read the multiple threads on the matter. Those are ALSO the rules.

3) I don't give a a damn about your "work of art" "free speech" argument because this is a private server and those rules dont mean a thing to me. You have absolutely no legal ground to request anything of this site in the way of policy change, so don't waste your time asking for such.

Understood, I once belonged to a group of forums about the Matrix, we talked about the matrix philosophy and everyone was so kind to each other, it was awesome. Clearly i have found another one of my intrests has a similar such fan base! sweet!

anyways i thought of another thing that could go in aftermath:

311) A helicopter!!! omg the gunship was sooo cool. And i mean it wouldn't really be that big of a change to the engine, just strafe left right as normal +crtlr and spacebar for verticle movement. that'd be sweet

No I am not a member, sorry. I'm just a guy with superior intellect ;) I have two ways of talking: Normal and gamer.

If I talk normal in a game (or on a gaming forum) and say, use words more that two syllables, people don't understand me. I was under said impression when I joined this site and thus was using "gamer speak" (along with "1337 sp34k" it is one of the many dialects of geek).

However this is obviously not that average gaming site, therefore I'll talk with my three syllable words and those who can't understand be damned! :E

...and yes, I did mean a helicopter for use by Gordon.

312) More use of mist. I think my favorite part of the game was during highway 17 when you used the crain. If you turn around and look at the bridge while your standing in the sand, the mist looks soooooo cool. Aftermath needs more visuals like that.

I didn't read through every post, so some of these might have already been said.

314. Better water effects. Sure, it looked great from a static point of view, but the splashes need improvement. I just remember throwing cars off the cliff and into the water in Highway 17, and they would just make two or three circular ripples and fall straight through, without any realistic water impact or splashes.

315. More realistic water bump-mapping patterns. There were many cases in which the patterns of a water body didn't behave the way it should - mainly the ocean in Highway 17 (again), which had fast moving, flat circular ripples instead of waves and linear ripples.

316. Headcrab zombies with some variation. Apparently every single person in Ravenholm wore a white shirt with bluejeans.

317. Use of some scripted death animations, rather than ragdoll physics every time. Sometimes the way in which an enemy would simply become completely motionless and just drop to the floor was unrealistic.

318. More variation in the facial models and voices of citizens.

How about having both, then?

Specific parts where you only guide him along to certain positions and then he does a scripted sequence according to the situation. Kind of the way you could order Barney or a scientist in Half Life 1 to follow you, only with a few more actions instead of just wait/follow.

That could work. Intergrate several scripted sequences and then have segments where your sending him here and there. He'd need pretty good AI, picking up cars and all but overall it could work very well.
