Will there be a significant delay in loading times or any performance hit if I install and run games off a USB hard disk? Right now I have a 300GB HDD that's rotting away in my cupboard because I can't be arsed to install it, so I was thinking of using it as an external.
Source games have always been very lax on system requirements considering the graphics.
Unsurprising, since the Source engine has been in development for a very long time, whereas all these EA games typically have a development cycle of 2 years or less.

Edit: On a side note, a few days ago I updated my BF2 from 1.12 to 1.3 using the big patch (not incremental), but when I loaded the game in the bottom corner it still had 1.12 written there? Everything played fine though.
